You are here

Hello,
Today I am here to share my first hybrid page.  And what is a hybrid page? Well, it' s a classic (paper based) and digital combined page. I wanted to try this awesome technique for a long time and yesterday I decided to give it a try.

I love the digital brushes of the Studio Calico Marcs & Co kits from August. In fact at first I felt in love with the rubber stamps and all the pieces from the main kits but they are totally out of my budget this month so I decide to get the kit look by purchasing the digital elements, which are much less expensive. :)

Isn't this stamp totally gorgeous? It is just perfect for traveling projects or ... actually for any theme! hehe. Just love it!! Then I combined it with some chevrons, hearts and paint splashes from the same set, which you can find here

As I am not a photoshop expert, I searched for some inspiring tutorials and in the end I found how to do this amazing page based on a tutorial from the incredible Shanna Noel. Have you ever had the chance to view her hybrid works? It is so fun and beautiful! I can't wait for her chapter of the new SC class: Toolbox!

This project was also inspired by this week SC challenge. It's focused on big titles and I think my title is big enough, don't you think? ;) It really worked out very well with the photo and the other accents. At first I was scared that it would totally distract from the photo. But with the directional chevrons I think the eyes are drown to our cute little traveling photo.

For the rest of the page I chose some embellishments that I had on my stash: ribbons, cork washi tape, AC flowers and some other accents here and there. The background paper is also from a past SC collection which combined perfectly well with the colors of the stamp. Then I added some splashes of red from the flowers, pink from the ribbon and papers, and also some beige from the cork, and wood veneers. I try to keep them small and somehow clustered to not disturb the main elements of the page.

I also added the name of the place with some small thickers. But for the rest of the journaling I placed a card behind the photo, easily visible by pulling out from the paperclip.

I hope you like this idea and I am totally ready to learn new and fun techniques to keep growing as a scrapper. Definitely going to search for new digital brushes to incorporate in upcoming projects.

Life lessons a & little notes

Hello!

Today I wanted to share a kind of different project: a book to keep some notes for my future me and my future family :) But this is not a common book... this is actually a wood box decorated as a book!! Ok. I had to admit that it was easy to come to this idea as it was already shaped like a book... but isn't it cute?

I had these wonderful fabric papers from one of the first collections of Dear Lizzy and I couldn't have imagined a better way to use them. They are perfect to decorated the wood box, such lovely designs. I also had some nice pieces from the latest collection of Dear Lizzy. The envelope chipboard matches perfectly the design that I had in mind. And I love the texture that the rose ribbon gives to the cover.

As I said before my intention is to use it to keep some LIFE LESSONS & LITTLE NOTES. Just some good lessons or quotes that I would love to discover once in a while.

Here you can see the inside of the box.  It has the perfect size for 4x6 cards. And I have already place a few cards inside. Love it!!

In the next photo you can appreciate a close up of the side of the book. I colored the fabric feathers from Studio Calico to match the color palette of the fabric papers. I added the finishing touch with the cute wood veneer also from Studio Calico that says Quoted... perfect!

I hope you like this idea and that you decide to create something like this. Are you ready to keep notes for the future you? ;)

Journey

Hello,

Today I wanted to share another layout from our last trip to Scotland. For this one I chose one of my favorite collections right now: The Atlantic collection from Studio Calico. It is perfect to document some adventures on the north cost of Scotland.

To be able to play with multiple papers and designs, I worked with a recurrent shape all over the page: triangles, as the last time I played with circles. This one was really fun too. I didn't measure anything but I like how it turned out. And I love how they resemble the sails of a boat.

I also added some other accents and embellishments as the cute frame from the same collection and the little boat. I wanted to add that car veneer as we took a road trip to see all that side of the island. It was pretty awesome to drive on the other side of the road ;)

As you may already appreciate, I didn't add this time a big tittle with alphabet thickers or stickers. I tried to make the photo (combined with the triangles) the main focus of the page. Besides, this week on the Studio Calico Blog Maggie Holmes and Amanda Caves challenged us to use our writing. It says: We live in a wonderful world full of beauty, charm and adventure... there is no end to the adventures we can have if we only seek them with our eyes open... That is what a journey means to me...

I love how my hand writing gives an extra special and unique touch to my projects. It really makes it more personal. I like it so much that I will challenge me to add more and more writing on my next project to document my own sentiments or experiences.

When nothing goes right...go left!

Hello!

I am so happy that it is finally friday again...TGIF! right? I have so many plans for this weekend, yaaaay!  But before I want to share this fun project. This page is very dynamic and it really goes very well with the title in it, and with the train tracks.

I do not normally use colored cardstocks as background but I like how this vibrant yellow combines perfectly with the photos and the rest of accents.  To complete the color palette of this layout I only used white and kraft papers or embellishments so the yellow stands out.

I love the title phrase, it made me laugh when I first heard it: When nothing goes Right...go Left!! :) That is actually such a good point of view, don't you think? Change the direction of what you are doing if it is not turning out the way you expected, but do not forget to keep going!

Anyway, to make it more dynamic, I cut some white cardstock and placed the photos diagonally.  I also added some arrows here and there pointing to different directions, from right to left and backwards. I also used some chevron to stand out the directions given by the title.

Then I played with some yellow printables from Studio Calico and different air-mail and chevron washi tapes. To finish the page... what is better than adding some cute stamping and journaling! I  doodle a bit around the main stamp from Banana Fish Studio as well. The perfect touch!!

See you soon!

Edinburgh castle

Hello,

Today I am sharing a really fun project about our visit to the Edinburgh Castle in Scotland. I really enjoyed the visit and we were so lucky with the weather that we could wear shorts and skirt!!

So, I chose a very bright and happy color palette: yellow, cream-wood and green. I do not normally go with greens in my layouts so this kind of a challenge to me.

About the sketch, I totally found the inspiration in one of the latest Elisabeth Kartchner's In the Mood to Scrap videos at 2 peas in a bucket. I love how she used round photos and how it totally allows you to play with a unique sketch for multiple photos. When I scrapbooking my travels, sometimes I love to add a lot of photos in just one layout. Because I just can't decide which is my favorite one to document that concrete moment or travel.

The challenge was also to make your own accents with circles and I had so much fun with this two circles. I love them!!! I specially like the one above because of the cute camera (from Amy Tangerine), the ribbons and the wood veneer phrase. Explore...that is exactly what we did that day, we explored every single place in the castle. And as you can imagine we took tons of photos. :P

The Hello one was very simple to create. By coincidence, I printed my photos with the same size of this cute die-cut from the Lucky Charm collection from Dear Lizzy. So, I couldn't resist to use it. Then I just added some details here and there keeping the same color combination.

The background paper from Hey Day (Studio Calico) makes a great contrast to the white cardstock. I like the circles on it which really combine with the round photos and accents of the rest of the page. Don't you think?

This was a really fun technique to document this awesome moment of our travel to Scotland! I hope you try it out too!!

Hakuna Matata

What a wonderful phrase...

...Hakuna Matata! Ain't no passing craze
It means no worries for the rest of your days
It's our problem-free philosophy
Hakuna Matata!

Did you remember that song?? Yes! Exactly! It is one of the main songs from The Lion King movie from Disney.  Ohhh what a beautiful movie! When I was a little girl I used to watch it all the time and even I had the BSO in cassette!! :) Such a crazy kid...

In a recent In the Mood to Scrap vide from Janna Werner (two peas in a bucket website) she challenged us to get inspired by a tv-show or a movie. As you can see, the theme of The Lion King's song is also the main theme of my project. You know, some moments in life when you have a bad experience or something it is not going very well, or maybe you just got in to trouble with some one and you and you can't do anything to solve it. Then you think...what should I do now with this? So this is my answer: Hakuna Matata!! And that was the tittle I chose for this very special moment from last summer.

About the page, my main focus is the sketch with the Crate Paper frames from The Pier collection. I love them. They can be used in some many and different ways that you can achieved a wide variety of pages. I will show more projects with them soon so stay tuned if you want to check more possibilities.

I played also with some papers from the same collection and from the Maggie Holmes collection. They combined so very well. Such a soft and dreamy style.

I specially love the flower paper. I like it so much that I used to add some little embellishment here and there. I simply cut the flowers and glued them with some runner tape and dimensional dots. With this embellishments and the color palette I tried to resemble the savannah which is he main scene of the movie. Have you ever try to cut embellishments out of a paper?

Hope you like this and remember...Hakuna Matata!!

You make my heart sing

Wild Thing!!

You make my heart sing, you make everything... groomy... I said wild thing...
Do you remember that song? I did when I first saw this die-cut card a few months ago and I couldn't wait to work with it. But in the end I started playing with other pretty things and I totally forgot about it... However this past week Wilna Furstenberg showed a beautiful project inspired by a song. Did you watch the video at 2peas in a bucket? She challenged us to make the same. So, ladies and gentlemen here is my project based on the song Wild thing by the Troogs.

I love how she played with some twine in a previous project and I thought...uuuhhhmmm that could be great for this!! So I made stave lines with gold and white twine. Then I added some gold sequins here and there and some little hearts with part of the lyrics from the song.  Then I placed the treble clef veneer at the beginning of it and that's it!  Now it totally looks like a staff ready!  Are you ready to play some music? ;)

I also wrote the lyrics at the bottom of the page as a little journaling. Do you see those little white triangles? I used the same technique as in a previous page that you can check here.

Ok.
Now that I had the basic sketch ready, I placed some embellishments around the photo. As you may have already noticed the color scheme for this page was, white, gold, cream and redish-orange. Therefore, I only chose elements of this color so they combined perfectly with the main element: the Dear Lizzy die-cut card.

I love the effect of layering multiple frames, it gives so much dimension! The cute chipboard heart is made by myself. I colored it with white acrylic paint and some cute lyrics and music staff... but I didn't like it...too boring! So I found a rubb-on from Dear Lizzy with the same quote...and it was shaped like a heart! Perfect!! So I rubbed it over my previous work. In this photo you can see how it looks in the end.

The Maggie Holmes bow and the Dear Lizzy orange horse (with lyrics from the same song) are the final touches.

I hope you like this and I hope it inspired you, as if was inspired by Wilna's beautiful work, to make a project based on a song. And if you do, let me a comment here because I' l love to see it.  Meanwhile here is a link to the song Wild Thing!  Don't you love to hear music while you scrap? Besides, it is soooooo easy to find great quotes on songs for scrapbooking.

See you soon!

2012!

Hello,

I know I know we are already in the middle of 2013 and I am still sharing this kind of new year's layout with the highlights of 2012... But hey! this is not Project Life sooo I don't mind being a little behind. I am just working with some happy memories :)

I wanted to make a sum up layout based on the seasons of last year. As you may already know my boyfriend and I study in two different colleges separated by thousand miles away so we usually see each other during vacation or breaks. And there is only one each season.
And for that I chose the following quote: Seasons may change but I'll love you the same...

I divided the page in four parts each for one season. Then I worked with it as 4 different 6x6 pages, each focused in one season.

Winter
Winter: For me it is very easy to work with Christmas projects as each year I make a lot of  Greetings cards and I already have an idea of the color schemes and patterns that I love. As embellishments I love to add snowflakes or pompons (which can act as snow) and wood veneers. And I normally prefer to play with wood colors, soft blues and red than dark greens. You can get a more dreamy image with these colors.

What I like of this season: I love those warm days at home under the blanket and the big celebrations with the family and friends.

Spring
Spring: Flowers everywhere!! It is the blossom season, and the time to celebrate everything with a picnic :D right? The color palette is clear for me: soft, pastels and a lot of nature colors.

What I like of this season:  I love how the days are getting warmer and longer. And nothing can be better than bike rides and PICNICS!!

Summer
Summer:  A lot of beach colors...mostly blues and yellows. Bright and vibrant colors.

What I like of this season: I love to go to the beach, get sun-kissed, swim in the ocean and to eat lots of ice creams and sweets! It is when I have the longest vacation as well, the perfect moment to travel somewhere fun and the time to exploit the sun ;)

Fall
Fall:  I chose to play with a Halloween photo and palette because it is the day of the season that I enjoy the most.  Definitely orange, black and earth colors.

What I like of this season: Halloween!! In Spain we don't celebrate this day so when I have the chance to visit my boyfriend those days in Texas, I have fun playing with costumes and going to different parties and to Trick or Treat.

F is for fairies

Hello!

Today I am sharing the third and last one card/home decor that I made a couple of weeks ago as a part of a trio. Check this and this to see the details of the two previously published.

I made this inspired on the days when my sister was buying new things for the baby room. And I decided to try to do some cute cards that can be framed as well and placed on a baby's room wall. Don't you think these could be part of the decoration? Such a cute deco with the little Fairies. Today F is for fairies!

Before I started playing with the beautiful fairy image from Mo's Digital Pencil, which I colored with Copics, I decided which elements I wanted to have on the card:

- big and pop-out embellishment
- punched butterflies
- handmade card (with paint)
- gold glitter
- hello sunshine banner
- spring relatedstamp
- 3 different but coordinated washi tapes
- 3 enamel dots (color shades)

So on the next photos I will show you all these elements...can you spot them?

Fun, right? I specially like this one because it is so girly and pink as all my niece's new things. Have you ever try to do play with the same sketch in different projects or shades? It is truly a technique that I love. So many possibilities!

Home is where the heart is

Hello all,

Today I am sharing a really really special page for me... Home. What it is home for you? Some people say home is the city where they grew up, home is wherever they live right now... but for me home is not a place, home is where my heart is.  It doesn't matter where, for me what matters is with who. My home is wherever my family, friends and boyfriend are. That's why sometimes I feel like I share plenty of homes...

This photo collage was taken during the last days of my exchange year, the last days before our relationship turned into a long-distance relationship. And that is what this page is all about. And about the little everyday-moments that I was going to miss...oh man! How I miss those moments! But I am happy that I have found new little moments through these years :)

This layout is inspired by one In the Mood to Scrap video series by Elizabeth Kartchner or mostly known as Dear Lizzy. I love the idea of spreading a word into different photos. I have to add more digital sentiments on to the photos, the effect is so pretty!

The papers (5th and frolic collection by Dear Lizzy) are so gloomy that they are just the perfect combination for this page. I also played with some soft and neutral embellishments from the same collection a, the Lucky Charm and Crate Paper, which go perfect as well with the theme. Something I can not work without this lately: ink splashes (have you notice that some of the splashes where already printed on the paper but others were spread by me?), roller stamps here and there, and little hearts.

Finally I write some journaling about those little moments in life... The perfect touch to personalize your project! And I think that within some years it would be fun and pretty awesome to look back and read these lines. I really encourage you to add it to your projects ;)

xoxo
