Day in the life (Mini book)

Hello,

I hope you all are having a great week before Christmas. And while you are busy with your December Daily albums, I decided to be a rebel and make a mini book of a fun day in our life, totally not related to Christmas festivities. :P But it was a day I wanted to remember and since you may already have noticed, by the photos, I have already made a few layouts about that day. But I also wanted to make a minibook which are easier to show and tell ... I guess.

So, to make it more simple and at the same time more coherent, I used the same page sketch twice. This is a sketch for the first and last page. A different color palette plus sketch for the second page and the one before last, and so on.  I also printed the photos taking in to account this approach. Once I had everything organized, the fun part started! Yaaay! Decorating the minipages. I used papers from several collections, stickers, rubb-ons, wood veneers, flair, thickers, enamel dots and everything I could find in my stash.  Now I leave you with a detailed shot of every single page of the book.

I hope you like it and that you try this easy technique to complete mini books much more quickly.

///////////// (en Español)

Hola,

Inspiration delivered

Happy Monday,

Today I would love to share with you where I mainly find my inspiration from. And inspiration for what? Well, for almost every aspect of my life! haha ok. I may be exaggerating a bit, but at least for being more creative in every little thing that I do; such as creativity in taking photos to capture little moments of my everyday, creativity in cooking, scrapbooking, color palettes, cute party or home decor things, clothing and just being in a good mood watching all the pretty things that people share.

Pinterest? Not really. I am talking about Instagram. Although it may be similar to Pinterest in the way of getting inspiration, for me is much easier to use Instagram or I may be simply more used to it I guess. Nevertheless, I few days ago I decided to finally join Pinterest (yaaaaay) and share pretty things as well. You can now find on the right bar a link to my Pinterest profile so don't forget to check it out once in a while to see new, colorful, fun and bright new pins. And if you are not a follower of my profile on Instagram yet, what are you waiting for? ;) Link on the bar as well.

At the moment I leave you here with a recompilation of what I have loved on Instagram lately.

Fall in love (Day 5 of ArtClass2 inspired pages)

Hello,

and welcome to the final page of this special week where I have shared 5 pages in 5 days. Woohoo.
So, for this page I started painting some stripes in a fall color palette with Gelatos.

Again, I was inpired by Wilna's Furnstenberg's latest workshop: ArtClass2; specially by its chapter 11. Although I do not own a cutting machine as a Silhouette Cameo or so, I wanted to make something like it for a long time.

So, I grabbed some paper, my scissors and I spent around half an hour cutting leaves to make this beautiful banner on top of the Gelatos. Then, I placed my photo on top of it. I really like how the color of the Gelatos are in accordance with the leaves on the photo.  I love the whimsical look of the page.

Finally I added my tittle with this lovely American Crafts alphabet. I think I am starting to love more and more chipboard thickers over foam thickers. What about you?

I hope you enjoyed this pages as much as I did when I was creating them. And hope to see you soon around here for next projects, thanks for watching and following this blog and all your sweet comments would be so truly welcome! Cheers!

Unless (Day 4 of ArtClass2 inspired pages)

Hello,

Today I bring you page 4th of this fantastic week where I am sharing 5 pages in 5 days. I hope everyone is having a great week and that all of you are enjoying this month as much as I am doing. I can not believe that December is already here. Next weeks I will be so busy with all the Christmas preparations, last minute shopping sprees, work travel to Braunchsweig (Germany) and a lot of new experiments in the lab. Therefore  I decided to make this just in case I do not have enough time for my crafts this month.

As you may already have noticed my projects are always very colored with a lot of details and fun elements. They are totally me! So I tried this technique form ArtClass 2 Chapter 12 where I can add a lot of color to the background. I looooove ombre backgrounds.

I decided to go with a yellow- orange one as it reminds me of a beautiful sunset. I painted the stripes with acrylic paint and after that I cut them in stripes. So beautiful!

Once the paint was dry, I ripped it to stripes and put the pieces in place on some white cardstock. To finish the page I clustered some embellishments to the right of my photo and a title. Do you remember the Lorax? I hope so otherwise the tittle would not make much sense to you ;)

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to come tomorrow for the last post of the week.

Life is a playground (Day 3 of ArtClass2 inspired pages)

Hello,

And welcome to one more day to this special week where I share one post per weekday. Today I bring you one of my all time favorite pages that I have ever made. This is a really special page for me, and I am very happy with the result! I love the way it looks. I am so glad that I chose Kraft cardstock as the background. It really makes the colors pop, wouldn't you agree?

For this page I was inspired by chapter 14 of the ArtClass2 workshop by Wilna Furstenberg. I have used many times before acrylic paint for different crafting projects but I have always regretted not using them more in my scrapbooking pages. So I was really pleased to see a chapter in this class focused mainly in the use of acrylic paint. Yaaay!

So, I started by tracing the Studio Calico Honeycomb mask with a pen and coloring the hexagons on a ómbre/rainbow kind of way. Then I used the mask as a stamp and I sprayed on it Mr Huey's grey ink and I pushed it onto the honey comb over the painted acrylic. And remember that it doesn't have to be perfect to be wonderful!

I chose this technique for this special page because it reminds me of the paints that kids do. And that is what this page is all about.

The world's a playground. You know that when you are a kid, but somewhere along the way everyone forgets it. - Yes Man

Do you remember that quote from the Yes Man movie? For the ones that do not know me, I am a huge fan of Jim Carrey's movies. They always make me laugh so hard, as kids usually do. And this has been my latest life philosophy; remember that life is meant for you to be happy, to have fun and don't take things to seriously.

Once my background was dried I placed this silly photo of my boyfriend and I celebrating Movember with our handmade mustaches, and I started placing the embellishments and the big tittle. I am a lover of the gold trend right now and those gold foil numbers were pretty enough to not used them on this page. I wanted to remark the fun we have when it's just the 2 of us, because during classes period we normally see each other only by skype. So for me it is important to squeeze this moments together to be able to remember them through the months when we are far apart.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to come tomorrow for another great page.

Unwritten (Day 2 of ArtClas2 inspired pages)

Hello,

Welcome to the second day of ArtClass2 inspired pages. First of all I am sorry for the dark lighted photos. It is hard to take photos now a days because it is dark outside when I have to leave to work, and it is still dark outside and I get back home from work. Seriously, I feel like a vampire sometimes.

Anyways, today I want to share this awesome technique of applying gesso on top of chipboard elements to make a dimensional background. This one is specially inspired by Chapter 12 of the ArtClass2, although instead of using frames I used some alphabet letters to go with the theme of the page.

Unwritten. Because sometimes it's good to remember that it is you who writes your own story, and that you can do anything you have ever dreamed about.

Once that was dry I added some embellishments and my photo. Lately, I've been loving making monochromatic pages as for me, with practice, I've been getting faster. You just have to take embellishments of the same color palette and that's it! Easy peassy!

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to come again tomorrow for another project.

Lucky you (Day 1 of ArtClass2 inspired pages)

Hello,

This week I bring you 5 different projects (one for each weekday). Why? Well, I am challenging myself to share more of the work I do as I feel that I only show you 50% of what I actually make. I guess this is one of my new year's resolutions! Can you believe that it is already december?!

So, for this special week I decided to share the pages that I made inspired by the new workshop by Wilna Furstenberg for Two Peas in a Bucket: ArtClass2. Have you enrolled in her class? It is truly amazing, beautiful, inspiring and fun! I absolutely recommend it. :)

For the ones who are in the class, I made this page inspired by chapter 17, although I didn't end up using any embossing powder.

As I was determined to learn more new techniques (another resolution for next year) I purchased Gelatos at last. And as soon as I started playing with them I felt it was love at first sight... They are so much fun!  The colors are amazing and you can use them in so many ways.

As you can see here, on this page, I used them to bring color to my background. I also added a little bit of glitter on top of them. After that I added my photo and I started clustering embellishments on the left side of it. To make my banner I cut a transparency stripe with the words smile and I attached them with some ribbons.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to come again tomorrow for another project.
