Wernigerode (Glitz Design CT)

Today, I am sharing for the first time a Project Life style spread. I am super excited because this way of Scrapbooking is very new for me but so far I have been loving it. I decided to give it a try for this summer as I am currently in a 3 month stay in Germany due to work and I thought this would be the best way to document this experience instead of documenting every single detail on 12x12 pages. 

So, this spread is about a Day Trip that the department scheduled for all of the workers there. It was such a great idea to know each other a little bit better outside of the lab and to have fun visiting the area. We went hicking, we visited the Schloss and the city center, we had a picnic at the Harz and we even tasted the famous sweet Schneeballen.

I like to coordinate both sides of the pages if the photos are related as it happens with this spread. I choose a very basic color palette: mainly pink, blue and woodgrain. Super inspired by the Carpe Diem Collection by Glitz Design.

I also added some circles along the whole spread to coordinate the title, made with those cute alpha circles, with the rest of the spread. Simple but fun!

Hoy comparto por primera vez un proyecto estilo Project Life. Estoy súper emocionada porque esta forma de Scrapbooking es muy nueva para mí, pero me va gustando. Decidí darle una oportunidad este verano ya que actualmente estoy realizando una estancia de 3 meses en Alemania debido al trabajo y pensé que esta sería la mejor manera de documentar esta experiencia en lugar de documentar cada detalle en páginas de 12x12. 

Esta doble página trata de una excursión de día que el departamento programó para todos los trabajadores. Fue una gran idea para conocernos un poco mejor fuera del laboratorio y de divertirse visitando la zona. Fuimos a hacer senderismo, visitamos el Schloss (palacio) y el centro de la ciudad, tuvimos un picnic en el Harz e incluso probamos los famosos dulces Schneeballen. 

Me gusta coordinar ambos lados si las fotos están relacionadas como ocurre en este caso. Eligí una paleta muy básica de colores: principalmente rosa, azul y madera. Totalmente inspirada por la colección Carpe Diem de Glitz Design. También he añadido algunos círculos a lo largo de las 2 páginas para de alguna manera coordinar el titulo, hecho con esos letras con círculos, con el resto de los elementos. ¡Simple pero divertido!

loving being creative as a way of living

eating Caesar Salad Wraps with French Fries at my favorite terrace whenever I have a chance

enjoying the last few days of my stay in Braunschweig, Germany

wearing bright colors to cheer up this not so warm summer

collecting mini white ceramic bowls to used as stationary

working more than I should on weekends... I really need to stop doing this and get finally some sleep

walking less but riding a bike more and more

trying to finish at the lab all the experiments I wanted to complete during these 3 months

feeling guilty for buying more scrapbooking supplies that what I probably should ...but man! Sometimes it's so hard to resist!

wishing this year will only get better and better

leyendo los subtítulos de algunos de los programas de televisión ya que a veces aun me resulta difícil entenderlas en Inglés completamente
celebrando las grandes oportunidades que veo en el horizonte 
amando ser creativa como una forma de vida 
comiendo wraps de ensalada Caesar con patatas fritas en mi terraza favorita cada vez que tengo la oportunidad 
disfrutando de los pocos días que me quedan en Braunschweig, Alemania 
usando colores vivos, para alegrar este verano no tan caluroso
coleccionando mini tazones blancos para usarlos en mi mesa de scrap
trabajando más de lo que debería en los fines de semana ... realmente necesito dejar de hacer esto tan a menudo y dormir un poco, finalmente, 
caminando menos, pero andando en bicicleta cada vez más 
tratando de terminar en el laboratorio todos los experimentos que quería completar en estos 3 meses 
sintiendome culpable de comprar más productos de scrapbooking de los que a veces debería... pero jo! a veces es tan difícil resistirse...
deseando que este año sólo vaya mejorando cada vez más

Around here (Glitz Design CT)

Today, I am on the Glitz Design blog sharing an On Trend layout. I noticed on Pinterest and on many other Scrapbooking galleries that layouts based on Grid designs seem to be everywhere right now! I worked with this kind of design many times before and I can admit that I am a huge lover of it. It is the perfect design to add several photos on a page in an interesting way.

I normally play with 3x3 grids (9 squares in total) but since this time I wanted to add 7 photos I decided to try a bigger grid: a 4x4 design with 12 squares in the end.

I started by choosing where I wanted to place my  2" photos and once I was happy with how they looked, I cut 5 paper squares to completed the design. Instead of squares you can also used some circles or even experiment with other forms. The possibilities are endless.

Then, I decorated the squares with stickers from different collections by Glitz and I also added a few details to a couple of photos to help to tell my story. I chose subtle papers because the photos already had a lot of color and I didn't wanted to overdecorate the page. 

Finally, I wrote my journaling right on 2 of the squares and I added a big title to complete the page.

If you haven't worked with grids on a layout yet, I hope this inspires you to give it a try!

Hoy, estoy en el blog de Glitz Design compartiendo una página con un diseño que esta creando mucha tendencia ultimamente. Me he dado cuenta que aparece frecuentemente en Pinterest y en muchas otras galerías de Scrapbooking: os hablo de las páginas basadas ​​en diseños de cuadrícula. Yo ya he trabajado con este tipo de diseño muchas veces y puedo admitir que es uno de mis favoritos. Es el diseño perfecto para añadir unas cuantas fotos en una página de una manera interesante y sin que resulte demasiado agobiante. 

Normalmente suelo emplear cuadrículas de 3x3 (9 cuadraditos en total) pero como esta vez quería añadir 7 fotos, decidí probar una cuadrícula más grande: un diseño de 4x4 con 12 cuadraditos al final. 

Empece por elegir donde quería colocar mis fotos 2 "y una vez que estaba contenta con cómo se veían, corté 5 cuadrados de papel para completar el diseño. En vez de cuadrados también se puede utilizar algunos círculos o incluso experimentar con otras formas. Las posibilidades son infinitas. 

Después, me puse a completar los cuadraditos con pegatinas de diferentes Colecciones de Glitz  y también añadí algunos detalles a un par de fotos para ayudar a contar mi historia. En general he usado papeles sutiles porque las fotos ya tenían bastante color y no quería sobrecargarlo. Finalmente, escribí lo que quería contar y añadí un gran título para completar la página.

Hello there,

As I said on the last post I am really enjoying using Studio Calico Sunday Sketch Challenges as a starting point or somehow an inspiration for my projects lately. This week, I really didn't stick too much to the original sketch I guess but still, It helped to create this page and to get done fast (you can find it here).

This week I also run out of white cardstock or grid paper (I know...one of the worst nightmares for an scrapbooker...) so I decided to use the navy cardstock/paper that was included in the main kit. Ups! Sorry, I forgot to mention that for this page I used mainly the Hello Hello kit by Studio Calico.

As I had a dark background, I went for bright colors and white thickers to build up my page. I love the idea of the three central lanes of the original design plus the three big embellishments on top of them. So, with that idea in mind I place my title but instead of adding 3 embellishments on a straight row I decided to use the kraft butterflies as a path to direction the attention to the photos.

To complete the page I added some pink and blue embellishments here and there following the sketch design. By the way, I love this color palette! Blue, navy, pink, white...and a bit of gold are a perfect match,don´t you think?  Well, here instead of using gold I chose kraft because I just wanted to use those kraft die-cuts ;)

Hola,

Como mencione en el último post, estoy disfrutando un montón con los retos de sketch de los domingos de Studio Calico. Me encanta usarlos como punto de partida para mis paginas o de alguna manera como fuente de inspiración para comenzar mis proyectos. Esta semana, no he empleado el sketch original de una manera tan clara pero se nota que ahí esta y realmente consiguió ayudarme a conseguir esta página con rapidez (podéis encontrarlo aquí).

Esta semana me he quedado sin  cartulina blanca o papel cuadriculado (lo se, una de las peores pesadillas para una scrapbookera...) así que decidi utilizar una cartulina azul marino incluida en el kit. Ups! lo siento, se me olvido de mencionar que para esta página utilicé principalmente el kit Hello-Hello de Studio Calico.

Como el fondo ya de por si era mi oscuro, opte por emplear adornos de colores claros y un abecedario blanco para construir mi página. Me encanta la idea del diseño original de usar 3 lineas centrales en la pagina con un adorno encima de cada una de ellas. Así que con esa idea en mente coloque mi titulo pero en lugar de añadir 3 adornos en una fila recta decidí usar las mariposas haciendo como una especie de caminito para llevar la atención a las fotos.

Para completar la página añadí algunos adornos de color rosa y azul aquí y allí siguiendo el diseño del sketch. Y por cierto, me ha encantado esta paleta de colores! Azul cielo, azul marino, rosa, blanco ... y un poco de dorado son una combinación muy acertada, verdad? Bueno, aquí en lugar de utilizar algo dorado utilice las mariposas de color kraft jeje ;)

Happy Sunday!

Today I wanted to share really quick the layout that I made inspired by the last Sunday Sketch by Studio Calico which you can check here. I love the original page as well as Kelly's take. Simply gorgeous. So, I decided to give it a try. 

Lately, I kind of feel that I scrap less due to the so many hours that I spent working at the lab and also because I want to try to get as much as time as I can exploring around the area of Germany before I come back home at the end of the Summer So, when I finally find a moment to scrap, I just make sure that before I sit down, I have an idea in mind (like a sketch or color palette), the products I want to use (a kit or collected things from my stash) and of course the photo/s to be able to complete the page in a short time. 

And this past Friday, I found one of those moments: I had my photo, I had the July kit and add-ons from Studio Calico and the Sunday Sketch in mind as a starting point for my page. At first, I was going to use circles the same way as in the Sketch. But when I started punched them out I thought of using the circle holes instead. Can you guess what I spelled out with the wood veneer alphas behind those circles? Hint: it is the title of this post :P

About the color palette, one of the easiest way to choose one for a page it is just using the colors that appear in the photo. So, in this case black, white, red and wood. Easy, right?

What about you? Do you have any tips on how to get pages done when you don't have too much time? If so, I would love to hear them.

¡Feliz domingo!

Hoy quería compartir muy rápido la página que he realizado inspirada por el Sketch de Studio Calico de los domingos de esta última semana; el cual podéis ver aquí. Me encanta tanto la página original como la página que creo Kelly a partir del Sketch. Simplemente magnífico. Así que, decidí darle una oportunidad. 

Últimamente, siento que scrapeo aun  menos debido a las muchas horas que le dedico a trabajar en el laboratorio y también porque quiero explorar la zona tanto como pueda antes de que me toque regresar de Alemania a casa. Así que, cuando por fin encuentro un momento para scrapear, me gusta asegurarme de que, antes de que me siente, tengo una idea en mente (como una paleta de colores o un sketch), los productos que quiero utilizar (un kit o cosas que tengo por aquí) y por supuesto la/s foto/s. 

Y el viernes fue uno de esos momentos: tenía mi foto, el kit de julio y algun kit adicional de Studio Calico y el Sunday Sketch en mente como punto de partida. Al principio, iba usar círculos de la misma manera que aparecen en el diseño original pero luego pensé en utilizar los agujeros que quedaban al recortarlos con el troquel. ¿Ya habéis adivinado lo que he deletreado con las letras de maderita en los círculos? Una pista: es el título de esta entrada :P  

Acerca de la paleta de colores, una de la forma más fácil de elegirla es fijarte bien en los colores que aparecen en la foto que vas a usar y trasladarlos al resto de la página. En este caso negro, blanco, rojo y madera. Fácil, ¿no? 

¿Y tu? ¿Tiene algún consejo sobre cómo conseguir páginas hechas cuando no se tiene demasiado tiempo? Si es así, me encantaría escucharlas.

Hello sunshine Mini Album (Scrapaddictes DT)

Hello,

As many of you probably already saw, last week I shared a Summer mini album on the Scrapaddictes blog. And yes! This is the tiniest mini album that I have ever made and I love it! The pages are 4x3 (same as the PL cards) so I mainly chose to use full page photos to still have a nice photo size. For this album I worked 90 % with the latest Elle's Studio Collection called "Shine". Seriously, it was love at first sight! And isn't it perfect for summer projects? I also played with some Studio Calico Basics and Wanderlust embellishments. 

Let's have a look through the album!

Did you spotted the cute overlays on some of the pages? They are so pretty! The front and the back of the mini album are also part of this collection and they are made of wood. So hard to resist those, right?

Hola, 

Como muchas ya habréis visto, la semana pasada compartí un mini álbum de temática veraniega en el blog de Scrapaddictes. ¡Y sí! Este es el mini álbum más pequeño que he hecho hasta la fecha y ¡me encanta! Las páginas son de 4x3 " (igual que las tarjetas PL) así que elegí principalmente utilizar fotos de tamaño completo para no hacerlas encima más pequeñas. Para conseguir este álbum trabajé el 90% con la última colección de Elle's Studio llamada "Shine". En serio, lo de esta colección fue amor a primera vista! ¿No es perfecto para proyectos de verano? También añadí algunos adornos de las colecciones Basics y Wanderlust de Studio Calico.

Vamos a echarle un vistazo al álbum 

¿Os habéis fijado en las transparencias entre algunas de las páginas? ¡Son tan bonitas...! la portada y la parte posterior del mini álbum también forman parte de esta colección y lo mejor de todo es que están hechas de madera.  Difícil de resistirse, ¿no? jeje

Oh hello love

Hi there,

Just sharing today the first layout that I made with the Penny Arcade Scrapbooking kit and a couple of add-ons by Studio Calico. I haven't finished yet using the kits from previous months but I couldn't wait to dig into these one! What I love the most about these, is the wide range of embellishment's type. 

Only with a quick look at my page you can see of what I am talking about ;) ... those cute banners, the wood veneer phrases and numbers, the diamond chipboards, the doily, the rub-ons of gold stars,the puffy stickers ... and as always their fabulous stamps.

For the design I was inspired by the Studio Calico Sunday Sketch from a couple of weeks ago; which you can find here. I love how they choose a page from the DT gallery and challenge you to use it as a start point from your own creations. Which is great for me right now! I can hardly find time to scrap this summer so these challenges make everything much easier and faster, as I already start with an idea in mind and with the perfect kit to create it.

From there, the whole page came together really fast. I love the soft/dreamy color palette that I used, although it is a bit more girlie that what I am more used to but I like it anyways! And I think it combines perfectly well with the family portrait, don't you think?

Hoy me paso por aquí muy rápido para compartir la primera página que he creado con el kit de Scrapbooking de Studio Calico Penny Arcade junto con alguno de sus kits adicionales. Todavía no he terminado de utilizar los kits de los meses anteriores, pero no me pude resistir a adelantarme y empezar a usar este. Lo que más me gusta acerca de los kits de este mes, es la amplia gama de adornos presentes en ellos. 

Sólo con una rápida mirada a mi página podeis ver de lo que estoy hablando ;) ... esas banderas tan monas, esas frases de madera y los numeros, las pegatinas variadas, los rombos con letterpress dorado, los rub-ons de estrellas doradas... y como siempre sus fabulosos sellos.

Para el diseño me inspiré en el Sketch del domingo de Studio Calico de hace un par de semanas el cual podéis encontrar aquí. Me encanta que elijan una página de la galería de DT y te reten a usarlo como punto de partida para nuestras propias creaciones. Este verano, me esta costando encontrar tiempo para escrapear por lo que estos desafíos hacen que todo sea mucho más fácil y más rápido, ya que parto con una idea en mente y con un kit perfecto para tomar el relevo.

A partir de ahí, la página vino rodada. Me encanta la paleta de colores suaves / de ensueño que he usado, aunque es un poco más femenina que de costumbre, ¡me gusta de todos modos! Y creo que combina perfectamente con el retrato de la familia, ¿no os parece?
